Ailbe qualified with a BE in Mechanical Engineering from UCD in 1976. After working as a Manufacturing Engineer in the Medical Devices and Electronic industries in Ireland, he took up the position of Senior Engineering Manager in National Semiconductor in California. In 1989 he returned to Ireland and joined PA Consulting. He established ATM Consulting in 1991.

Ailbe has gained substantial experience in ‘Hi-tech� multinational companies operating in the US, South East Asia and Europe.

Working for National Semiconductor in the USA, he managed their Odyssey Semiconductor Manufacturing Automation and chip packaging technology development programs. He holds a number of US patents for semiconductor technologies.

Working for Intel Ireland, Ailbe developed and implemented logistics plans for construction of site facilities for new Wafer Fabrication plants at Intel in Leixlip. He was appointed Planning Manager with responsibility for future Intel Ireland site development planning activities, including development and submission of Planning Applications and Environmental Impact Studies for Intel facilities in Ireland. He produced and enabled the Ireland site facility infrastructure development plan. He also planned, designed & supported the development of a design centre for Intel in Denmark.

Ailbe’s consultancy assignments have included management of development engineering activities in Tricity-Bendix, re-organisation of the Waterford Crystal retail division, development and implementation of TQM at Taconic International, the development of technology strategies for 45 SMEs in Ireland under the Commission of the European Communities (CEC) EuroManagement Technology Program and arrangement of funding for new product development feasibility studies, review & development of Quality Strategies for 15 SMEs under the CEC EuroManagement Quality Program, and was appointed by the CEC as assessor of the CEC FUSE Program for Electronics Technology Promotion in SMEs in Ireland. Current consultancy assignments include acting as Contracts Manager for a client company providing engineering and facilities support services to large retail and residential construction projects in Dublin.
